"Choose to Manage” is a management skills development program designed specifically for faculty and staff who are currently managers, and those aspiring to be managers.  Faculty and staff can enroll to attend courses covering a variety of important skills.  Courses cover topics such as communication skills, hiring best practices, conflict management, performance management, critical thinking, process improvement, finance & budgeting, and more.

Performance Conversations

This course provides the framework for having meaningful conversations with staff about performance.   

Objectives include:

  • Discuss objectives, strategies, and value behind successful performance management.
  • Identify the steps, skills and tools required in the performance management process.
  • Outline the roles and responsibilities in the performance management process.
  • Provide positive and constructive feedback.
  • Identify both the employees’ and manager’s role in the performance management process.
  • Facilitate effective performance discussions with confidence.
