About this Event
The Suffolk University Theatre Department proudly presents their 2026 April Slot
The Rewilding
Written & directed by Carly Hagan [SU '27]
The source of every functional ecosystem begins with its producers. Trees, flowers, and every plant works to ensure balance and security within an environment. However, they can't do this work alone. Right beneath your feet live billions of microbes that connect to producer's roots and enable communications and transference of nutrients. This invisible society shuffles along underground and carries out the basic functions of our planet. It's safe to say soil's microbes literally hold the weight of the world on their shoulders.
In this nature ballet, join tour guides Hayden and Asa on their journey to the underground and discover the mysteries of this microscopic universe. Together, let us recognize the importance of these organisms and find urgency in their protection. Let's reconnect with our wild roots and find community as an ecosystem.
The Suffolk University Theatre Department's April Slot is structured to be as close as possible to the process a small theater company would undertake to rent a space and produce a show on their own, much like companies in Boston like Actors ’Shakespeare Project, The Front Porch Arts Collective, Company One, and others do. The department’s highest hope for our students is that they graduate and move on to start producing theater themselves. With April Slot, there is a high degree in flexibility in how students present their piece, as well as the scheduling for technical rehearsals and performances.
